#NFLKnights: Championship Weekend Preview

PISCATAWAY, N.J. – Five NFL Knights have a chance to advance to Super Bowl LVIII when the NFL’s conference championship games are played Sunday. RB Isiah Pacheco will face RB Gus Edwards and WR Sean Ryan when Baltimore hosts Kansas City in the AFC Championship, while DL Sebastian Joseph-Day and DB Logan Ryan will suit up for San Francisco against Detroit in the NFC Championship.

Rutgers is guaranteed to have at least one former football player advance to the Super Bowl for the third consecutive season. Eighteen Scarlet Knights have combined for 25 previous Super Bowl rings, as Pacheco and FB Michael Burton helped the Chiefs to a 38-35 victory over Philadelphia last season in Super Bowl LVII.

  • AFC Championship: (3) Kansas City at (1) Baltimore: 3 p.m. on CBS
  • NFC Championship: (2) Detroit at (1) San Francisco: 6:30 p.m. on FOX

 

NFL Knights Playoff Recap

Ten Scarlet Knights advanced to the playoffs, with eight logging snaps for their respective teams. Pacheco and WR Bo Melton (Green Bay) scored touchdowns. Melton, LB Olakunle Fatukasi (Los Angeles Rams) and DB Christian Izien (Tampa Bay) made their NFL playoff debuts.

Gus Edwards (Baltimore)

  • Produced 10 carries for 40 yards for the Ravens in win over Houston during the Divisional Round.

 

Olakunle Fatukasi (Los Angeles Rams)

  • Logged 13 snaps on special teams for the Rams in loss to Detroit during Wild Card Weekend.

 

Duron Harmon (Cleveland)

  • Logged a tackle in 33 snaps for the Browns in their loss to Houston during Wild Card Weekend.

 

Christian Izien (Tampa Bay)

  • Produced six tackles across two playoff games for the Buccaneers.

 

Sebastian Joseph-Day (San Francisco)

  • Recorded two tackles for the 49ers in their win over Green Bay during the Divisional Round.

Tyler Kroft (Miami)

  • Inactive for the Dolphins in their loss to Kansas City during Wild Card Weekend.

 

Bo Melton (Green Bay)

  • Played in both playoff games for the Packers, hauling in a 19-yard touchdown reception against San Francisco during the Divisional Round.

 

Isiah Pacheco (Kansas City)

  • In two playoff games, Pacheco has produced 39 carries for 186 yards and two touchdowns. The standout running back needs 61 yards to set the Chiefs’ playoff career rushing record. 

 

Logan Ryan (San Francisco)

  • Started at safety and produced three tackles for the 49ers in their win over Green Bay during the Divisional Round.

 

Sean Ryan (Baltimore)

  • Currently on the Ravens’ practice squad.
