Search Tip
Expand My Search Results

One Way to Make Interlibrary Loan Easier

You want it, but Rutgers University Libraries doesn’t have it . . . but we can usually get it through interlibrary loan! Here’s an insider tip to make interlibrary loan requests much easier:

  1. Search for your article or book in Rutgers QuickSearch.  No results? Not there? Try this:
  2. Find the three magic words on the left side of the QuickSearch results - “Expand my Search” - and activate by pulling the little circle to the right.  (Turning on “Expand My Search” taps into a broader catalog with bibliographic records for many items not held by Rutgers.)  Most of the time, your item will appear!
  3. Click on your item, then click “sign in for request options” and log in with your Rutgers NetID.

When you make an interlibrary loan request, the record will be pre-populated - less work for you, and you are more likely to get the article or book you want!

Smith Library Special Collections Supports NJMS Reading for Humanity

The NJMS Reading for Humanity project “hopes to make books focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion more of a part of everyday conversation in the academic workplace.” Bookcases with free books are located in the B- and C- level lobby areas of the Medical Sciences Building on the RBHS-Newark campus.

Special Collections librarian Bob Vietrogoski donated about 50 books to support this project. The books relate to medical history and/or DEI issues, and include multiple copies of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, and The Pact, written by The Three Doctors, Newark natives Drs. Sampson Davis, Rameck Hunt and George Jenkins, who attended NJMS and NJDS and wrote about their experiences.

These are actual books, not e-books! Read and learn, then keep, return, or pass along!
